Warning because of the integration of Google Fonts

❗ATTENTION WAVE OF WARNINGS❗

We have received information from our partner law firm that a law firm from Düsseldorf is currently issuing a warning for the integration of ❌Google Fonts❌ on websites. Elimination of violations, submission of a cease-and-desist declaration and assumption of the costs of the warning are required.

Almost all websites use Google Fonts, especially pages from WIX and other building blocks, but almost all WordPress templates are also affected!

REASON: Google fonts can be used for tracking. Since the visitor's IP address is sent to Google in the USA without being asked when you visit your website, you are violating the GDPR.

But not only the integration of Google fonts is problematic, almost all plug-ins that you use on your homepage transmit the IP address of the visitor without being asked. This affects Youtube, Google Maps, Facebook plugins, exit popups, etc.

To be on the safe side, you should only load sources from your own server. The use of YouTube videos, Soundcloud and co should only be possible after the visitor has given his consent. The plugins may only be loaded once their use has been actively confirmed. This is how we implement it for our customers.

WHAT TO DO NOW

You should check your website's network traffic. To do this, go to your homepage in your browser and click ALT+CTRL+C. A window should now open in your browser. Click on NETWORK and reload your website. To be sure that all external sources are really displayed, you can empty your website cache.

Under the HOST or DOMAIN tab, you can now see the sources that are accessed from your website. If there are addresses other than your own here, you should become skeptical and see if you can do without this source or install it on your server.
